"I didn't have quite the same... upbringing as my adopted siblings here. My beginning was something else entirely."
―Jasper Hale on his past

Jasper Hale, born Jasper Whitlock in 1843, is a vampire who participated in the great vampire wars of the south, but later became a member of the Olympic Coven. He is the husband of Alice Cullen and the adoptive son of Carlisle and Esme Cullen, as well as the adoptive brother of Rosalie Hale (in Forks, he and Rosalie pretend to be twins), Emmett and Edward Cullen, as well as the adoptive brother-in-law to Bella Cullen and the adoptive uncle of Renesmee Cullen.

After becoming a major in the Confederate Army, Jasper was beset upon by the vampire Maria, who proceeded to turn him. After the transformation, Jasper aided Maria in her creation of a newborn vampire army which successfully conquered the feeding grounds of Texas. However, Jasper became disillusioned with this violent life and eventually became a nomad. Fortunately, he was eventually found by Alice, the love of his life and with her began a life with the peaceful coven of the Cullen family.

Early Life

Jasper Hale

Jasper Whitlock was a major in the Confederate Army in Texas until he was turned into a vampire one dark night by Maria and two other vampires who were later killed by Jasper and Maria when they became of no use and were planning to defeat them and take over.

Jasper trained and comanded Maria' s New Born Army that participated in the Southern Vampire Wars. After almost a century of fighting and killing, he left Maria's New Born Army and ran with Peter and Charlotte. A few years later he left their company because he was unable to continue feeding on humans due to the reasons of being able to feel the emotions that his prey felt when he fed. Later, he meets Alice in a diner in Philadelphia, and together with the help of Alice's 'sight', they search for Carlisle and his coven.

Jasper uses Rosalie's surname of 'Hale', and poses as her twin due to the similarities in their physical appearance of blonde hair, which they use as their cover story while attending High School with humans. Out of the whole coven, Jasper has the hardest time being around humans, due to his untrained upbringing as a young vampire in an army environment. He was not taught to control or how to regulate his blood lust. Edward Cullen states that all human blood is equally tempting to Jasper, unlike the rest of the family, who can notice the variations in blood scent in different humans. When he became a vampire, he gained the ability to manipulate people's emotions.

Personality and traits

Physical Description

Jasper is 6'3" and has golden honey blond hair. He is muscular but lean. Like the other Cullens, he has pale, marble-like skin and bruise-like purple shadows under his eyes, which appear gradually as his thirst increases. He has golden eyes, like all animal-feeding ("vegetarian") vampires, which turn darker, eventually becoming black, as he grows thirstier. But sometimes he has red eyes because of his past.He has many crescent-shaped scars on his body, face, neck and jaw from the bites of vampires he fought on Maria's behalf. But they have eventually vanished over the years. The white scars are invisible to humans unless contrasted by a strong light, but when viewed by a vampire they are said to be his most dominant feature, causing defensive reactions in vampires who don't know him. In Breaking Dawn Bella says the scars "screamed dangerous." She also says "How many vampires had tried to kill Jasper? The same number that had died in the attempt."

Personality

Jasper could be mistaken for cold because of his highly analytical and military mindset. This is displayed in Midnight Sun as he is the one most resolved in killing Bella Swan in order to protect his family's secrets and is even willing to fight Edward Cullen to get to her (who admits he would fight against Jasper to protect her). However, this is before he met her and he steps down immediately after Alice Cullen asks him not to. In the movie he is described by Jessica as "looking like he is in pain." However, his relationship with Alice displays his warmer side. The fact that he suffered depression after his years in Maria's service suggests a strong sense of conscience and grief over his perceived wrong-doings. When he was human he was described as being extremely charismatic, and therefore very likable. He has also been shown to be a strong and forceful leader through his rapid ascent through the ranks of the Confederate Army. The fact that he is always a soothing presence shows that he wishes others to feel well and at ease, and will do his best to make that occur. Jasper is highly intuitive but also never takes advantage of his miraculous gift, showing that he is not malicious and chooses not to manipulate others. While the Cullens are gone in New Moon, Jasper studies philosophy at Cornell University. When the Cullens and Edward left, Jasper felt saddened when he read the emotions coming off Edward and how lonely and heartbroken he was without Bella. He voted yes for Bella to become a vampire. In the opening chapter of Midnight Sun, Jasper is shown as being deeply ashamed of his urge to drain the life from the humans around him. But he is different from his family; he prefers to eat a lot of bears and deer.[1] He also believed that a newborn vampire's instability is natural and unavoidable, and therefore had lower expectations for himself and his control. However, when Bella demonstrated very high levels of self-control as a newborn, Jasper's ideas were challenged and he was forced to review his theories and raise his self-expectations.

On a softer note, Jasper is unconditionally in love with Alice, and, despite her precognitive abilities, would do anything for her and to protect her. An example of this was when Jasper was trying to be 'everywhere at once' to protect Alice as they had their show down with the newborn vampires in Eclipse. Jasper also shows his love for Alice again in Midnight Sun's (yet to be released) draft, saying that he would not allow Alice to be put to harm, no matter how slight the possibility is.

Powers and Abilities

Some vampires have extra abilities beyond normal which are an amplification of an ability they had as a human (e.g. an intuitive mind could be able to read minds as a vampire). Because he was charismatic as a human, Jasper can feel and manipulate the emotions of others, though must be careful not to constantly manipulate those around him, so as not to create a false reality of others simply feeling what he wants them to feel. Like all other vampires he also has super strength and speed, granite hard skin, immortality, and a keen sense of smell and hearing. In the Cullen family, Jasper is the best fighter (equal to Edward) and the second strongest (next to Emmett). In Eclipse, during the training Jasper gives the Cullens and Quileutes it is noted that Jasper was on par with Edward's fighting skills. This is seen during their sparring, which only stopped when Carlisle told them to, suggesting that it could have continued perhaps indefinitely. As shown in Breaking Dawn, the Quileute wolf pack fear Jasper above all the other Cullens, and described him as "speed, death and power, all rolled into one."

Relationships

Family

Jasper is thought, by Bella at least, to be on the fringe of his adoptive family. As Carlisle did not change him he doesn't have the same connection with him as Esme, Edward, Emmett and Rosalie do. He has always thought of himself as the weakest link due to his former background and is comforted by Edward on this fact. He, Emmett and Edward enjoy play wrestling with each other, and hunting together on a regular basis, they would seem to be real brothers. Many people think that Jasper has a bigger connection with Esme than the others because of his past and she feels the need to comfort him for it. Rosalie and Jasper have a very special brother/sister relationship, and love each other very much, beside the fact that they are twins in the Cullens elaborate cover story. Jasper and Carlisle are as before not connected as well as the others in the Cullen family, but Carlisle still feels a fatherly bond toward Jasper. His connection with Alice is quite remarkable, proven by the fact that meeting her has completely changed his way of life. His connection to the Cullen family as whole is very firm, but as he is quiet and very reserved, it can be mistaken that the connection is quite dull.

Alice Cullen

"Overprotective fool."
―Alice Cullen on Jasper's protective nature towards her[src]

Jasper first met Alice after escaping the vampire wars he had been involved in. She was sitting on a stool in a diner in Philadelphia waiting for him, having used her ability to see into the future to foresee that they would meet there. Jasper, a little taken back by her knowing him, apologized sheepishly to her when she teased him about how long she had been waiting for him by "bowing his head like a good southern gentleman" and answering, "I'm sorry, ma'am." as Alice had said when Jasper was telling his story to Bella Swan in Eclipse. Alice then, offered him her hand in a silent request to leave the diner and start a new life together. Jasper accepted (as quoted from Eclipse, "For the first time in almost a century...I felt hope"). They fell in love and eventually found the Cullen family together. Alice helps Jasper regulate his blood lust by looking into the future or calming him down. They have been a part of the Cullen family ever since.

It is stated throughout the Twilight series that Alice and Jasper have a special, somewhat private relationship. They were both never complete until they met each other, and they are the only members of the Cullen family who were not turned into vampires by either Carlisle or Edward. Their distinctly understanding love is what separates them from the other couples in their family. They aren't as flamboyant about their relationship as Rosalie and Emmett are. The two are very committed and protective of each other, and have been married legally once, while Rosalie and Emmett tend to do so often when they move to a new place.

Etymology

is a variant of its original Persian ‘Kaspar. In accordance with Biblical text, Casper ( from the Persian "Gaspar" meaning 'treasurer or treasure bringer ) is the name of one of the"Three Kings"(commonplace referred to as the Magi: Wise Men) who, by ways of divination through astrological mathematics, presented gifts to Christ on the night of his birth. Casper’s gift was that of frankincense. The name Gaspar or Caspar, along with the names of the other two legendary magi, appeared for the first time in two medieval Latin texts and dates from the 9th century AD. The spell containing the name of Jaspar is a French/English transcription of the Latin word Caspar. Its Biblical reference led to its adoption as an English name in the 17th Century.

Jasper is also the name of a precious and beautiful gem, which translates to "speckled or spotted stone", derived via Greek iaspis (a feminine noun). On metaphysical standards, tt has the ability to foster and nurture and its energy is used for grounding and protection, while Native American traditions use the stone for connecting with the spirit world and for protection during travel, believed to stabalise emotions, and 'ease emotional stresses', which fits in with Jasper's ability to manipulate emotions, in particular to calm and relax.

"How can someone so tiny be so annoying?"
Edward Cullen to Alice

Alice Cullen, born in 1901 as Mary Alice Brandon, is a vampire with the ability of clairvoyance who is a member of the Olympic Coven. She is the wife of Jasper Hale and the adopted daughter of Carlisle and Esme Cullen. Alice is the adoptive sister of Bella, Edward and Emmett Cullen, as well as to Rosalie Hale and the aunt of Renesmee Cullen.

In 1920, after having been institutionalized by her family, Alice was transformed into a vampire to save her from the relentless tracker James. Later, she was led to the love of her life Jasper after recieving a vision of him, and the pair subsequently began a life with the peaceful coven of the Cullen family.

Biography

Early life

Alice's early history is very vague, as she remembers nothing of her human life and woke up as a vampire with a new family of brother and sisters that are also vampires. It is eventually revealed that she was born around 1901 in Biloxi, Mississippi and was kept in an asylum because she had premonitions, which intensified into her "special ability" when she was changed into a vampire. While at the asylum she was kept always in a dark cell, which is another reason why she remembered so little. Alice was changed by a vampire who worked at the asylum, in order to protect her from James, a tracker vampire who was hunting her. She and Bella are the only two people to ever escape James.[1] She later had a vision of her and Jasper with the Cullen family. In pursuit of this vision, she found Jasper and the two moved themselves into the Cullens' house. After doing some research, Alice found her grave and discovered that the date on her tombstone matched the date of her admission to the asylum (she had stolen her file from their records), perhaps implying that she was "dead" to her family when they confined her there. Through her research she additionally discovered that she had a little sister named Cynthia Brandon, and that Cynthia's daughter, Alice's niece, is still alive in Biloxi.

Twilight

At the beginning of Twilight, when Edward Cullen first states his attraction towards Bella Swan, Alice is interested. She had a vision about she and Bella becoming friends and knew there was a distinct possibility that it would one day happen. Therefore, she is very supportive of the relationship between Edward and Bella. When Bella comes to visit the Cullens' house, Alice is polite and friendly, acting as if Bella is already a member of her family. With her mental powers, Alice also knows that Bella could very well become a vampire and the spouse of her adopted brother.

Alice with Jasper Hale and Edward Cullen in their school parking lot

Later that year, the Cullens decide to play baseball, with Alice as the pitcher. Edward invites Bella along to watch and the entire family has a good time until three nomadic vampires, James, Laurent, and Victoria, arrive and threaten to kill Bella. Alice did not see that they were coming until shortly before the event because the decision was made extremely quickly.

Bella thinks up a plan for her to go to hide in Phoenix, Arizona, with Alice and Jasper as they accompany her. They stay in a hotel and Alice receives a vision of a ballet studio, not understanding what it means. When Alice, Jasper, and Bella go to the airport to meet the rest of their family, Bella slips away, causing Alice great worry.

The Cullens realize immediately that Bella has gone to the place in Alice's vision, and they rush to the studio. They arrive in time to help fight off James and kill him. When it becomes apparent that Bella was bleeding very badly, Alice leaves the sight of where Bella was bleeding so she would be tempted to kill her. Alice presumably returns to Forks after she knows Bella is alright.

A few weeks later, Alice attends the high school prom with the rest of her family, helping Bella get ready. At the prom, Alice is one of the people in the center of attention as she captivates everyone with her looks, dress, and dancing.

New Moon

When the Cullens leave in New Moon, Alice doesn't say goodbye to Bella in order to make a clean break. She later comes back because she thinks that Bella has committed suicide, but in reality, Bella was just cliff diving. She tells Bella what the Cullens have been up to and finds out how hard it was for Bella when they all left her. When Jacob Black tells Edward (thinking that he was Carlisle talking to him on the phone) that Charlie is "at the funeral", Edward thinks he meant Bella's funeral, though he was actually referring to Harry Clearwater's. Alice sees this and she helps Bella get to Volterra, Italy to stop Edward from exposing himself to the world and being killed by the Volturi. She later votes in favor of Bella becoming a vampire.

Eclipse

Alice mainly plays a supporting role in Eclipse. She is bribed by Edward with a canary yellow Porsche 911 Turbo (like the one she stole in New Moon) to "kidnap" Bella so she won't go to La Push to visit Jacob. She doesn't seem to think that a treaty with the La Push werewolves is bad. It is revealed she can use her power to predict the movements of her opponent in battle. She fights the newborn army created by Victoria with the majority of the Cullens and the werewolves. You can see her relationships with Bella and Edward grow throughout this book.

Breaking Dawn

At the beginning of Breaking Dawn, Alice helps Bella get ready for her wedding, by decorating, helping Bella with her dress and make-up, and giving Bella her garter. After the wedding she doesn't play a big role until Book Three, when she has a vision that the Volturi are coming. She leaves the Cullens to find another half-human, half-vampire hybrid like Bella and Edward's daughter, Renesmee. She leaves without saying goodbye but leaves Bella clues about what to do in case she doesn't come back in time. She gives Bella an address and the name J. Jenks. This man goes on to help Bella make fake birth certificates for Renesmee and Jacob to escape. While looking for the hybrid, she sends any vampires she can find to the Cullen house. Right before a fight emerges between the Cullens and their allies against the Volturi, Alice arrives with a hybrid named Nahuel, his aunt, Huilen, and Kachiri, an Amazonian vampire. After the Volturi leave, the Cullens welcome Alice back and question her about why she left them, but Alice just smiles and explains she had to find Nahuel or they all would have been killed.

Personality and traits

Physical description

Alice is a very friendly person and she shares many of the physical traits associated with Twilight vampires, such as inhuman beauty, pale skin, golden eyes (which darken as thirst increases) and deep purple shadows under her eyes. She is described as being petite, the shortest of the Cullens at 4'10", "thin in the extreme", with small, "pixie-like" features. She is also described to have large eyes and long, delicate eyebrows. Her hair is described as cropped short, spiky, and deep black. She moves gracefully, continually cited as dancing, with a carriage that would "break any ballerina's heart", as described by Bella in ]

Alice Cullen as portrayed by Ashley Greene

Personality

Alice is portrayed as being bubbly, tiny, and optimistic; loves and cares for Bella like a sister. She often ignores other people's advice and does things her own way, which usually results in the outcome being better than predicted. She loves to sing with music 3 octaves higher than the song really is with her silvery bell-like voice. She has vicarious fun dressing up Bella "like a three-dimensional paper doll" and throwing parties, and loves shopping at expensive shops in large malls. She knows that if she doesn't do the things that Bella should do but doesn't do due to the fact that Bella was never one for parties or over the top things, Alice forces them upon Bella. Alice, is also described as being a very fashionable person, going on massive shopping sprees with the money she helps her family make by predicting the stock markets. Alice very much enjoys buying Bella clothing. In Breaking Dawn, Esme furnishes a cottage for Edward and Bella, and Alice stocks the closet with an overflowing amount of clothing. Alice is often disappointed when Bella doesn't dress as she wishes. When Bella turns up wearing jeans and a t-shirt Alice says "Look at you, you need me to show you how to use your closet!" She loves fashion like her sister Rosalie. To Edward, Alice can also be very annoying, as he says in Eclipse when she is telling Bella about the grad party.

She is very protective over Jasper and makes sure he keeps in line.

As well as showing Jasper's warmer side when she is with him.

Powers and Abilities

Like all vampires, Alice has enhanced strength and speed. Though petite, she is a capable fighter because of her agility, speed and ability to see the future. The premonitions that Alice experienced as a human are intensified in her vampire life, and she uses this ability to her advantage in order to keep her family safe. However, Alice's sight is limited: she can only see the outcome of a decision once it is made - meaning it can change all too quickly. Also, the future is subjective and Alice cannot see it once werewolves become involved. This is a mystery that Carlisle has theorized is due to the unpredictability of the werewolves, who, in the split second while they phase, don't technically "exist" once they let their instincts take over. She also cannot "see" Renesmee, Bella's, half-vampire half-human, daughter in Breaking Dawn. Carlisle also believes that there may be a link between the fact that werewolves and Renesmee have 24 chromosomes. (see Breaking Dawn.) Alice has theorized that she cannot see Renesmee and the "werewolves" because she has no experience as being one of them; she sees vampires best because she is one, and can see humans "okay" because she was one. It's also felt that she can't see Renesmee so well because she has been imprinted by Jacob Black. Alice, while talking about her talent, describes herself as being "far from infallible" overall. Alice also has the ability to draw a scene that she sees in her visions without looking, and also rather quickly, as seen in the Twilight movie. Alice's gift makes her greatly prized by the leader of the Volturi, Aro, who wishes to take her and incorporate her into his guard, thinking she'll be very useful.[2][3][4]

Relationships

Alice is the adoptive sister of Rosalie, Edward, and Emmett. She is like a sister and best friend to Bella, and becomes her sister-in-law in Breaking Dawn. She is the adopted daughter of Carlisle and Esme, and aunt of Renesemee, Edward and Bella's daughter. She is also the wife of Jasper.

Alice foresaw Jasper Hale finding her in a vision before he even knew he was looking for her. They met face-to-face in a diner located in Philadelphia, where she told him that she had been waiting a long time for his arrival. A little bewildered but intrigued with her knowing him, Jasper "bowed his head like a good southern gentleman" and answered, "I'm sorry, ma'am." She offered him her hand, a non-verbal question of whether or not he would like to go with her. He did indeed take her hand, as the sight of it brought him hope "for the first time in almost a century". During their companionship and travels, Alice and Jasper fell in love. By 1950, they found Carlisle with more assistance from her visions and have been part of his coven (olympic) ever since.

Alice and Jasper have been together since the 1950s, but are not as flamboyant about their relationship as Rosalie and Emmett are. They are stated to be soul mates and have been married legally once.

Their distinctly understanding love is what separates them from other couples, and they are both very protective of each other. Jasper is a new 'vegetarian' and Alice helps him through it.

Etymology

Alice means "noble and kind". This might resemble her kindness toward Bella.

ALL ABOUT ALICE: FOR MY FRIEND ABBY

The next few posts are about ALICE CULLEN & they are dedicated to a very good friend of mine & a totally cool gurl named ABBY from INDIANA:

Name: Alice Cullen (formerly known as Mary Alice Brandon)
D.O.B.: 1901
"Death":1920
Age: Forever 19 (but really 106)
Gender: Female
Species: Vampire
Location: Forks, WA

Mary Alice Brandon (Alice Cullen) born in 1901 in Biloxi, Mississippi is one of the most beloved characters in the Twilight series. In 1920 she was turned by the mysterious mental asylum worker who was greatly in love with her. In turn she was protected from James who later hunted Bella in a sort of sick revenge & pleasure. Alice later found Jasper and Carlisle through her amazing future seeing abilities (a.k.a. she's psychic). She now resides with them along with Edward, Esme, Rosalie & Emmett in their home just outside of Forks, WA.

Alice is the epitome of a best and fun friend as seen by her character in the Twilight series. Whether it's her constant disapproval for Bella's lack of designer knowledge or her quick witted comebacks it makes us want to hear more from her! Alice is such a beloved character because she shows such compassion for her family and good friend Bella. This can be seen in Twilight when she and Jasper take Bella away in an attempt to save her from James. How many of your friends would pick up and leave their lives so quickly to help you?! (ok, ok, I know some would... but live in the moment with me!)

Frankly, I wish Alice was a real person, because she demonstrates such amazing qualities. Not only can she see into the future, but she also has deep empathy and love. I know I would love to have her as a best friend! Plus how many of you have friends who can steal a yellow Porche 911 Turbo and still be inconspicuous about it!!

THANX TO FELLOW RPATTZ BLOGGERS

THANX TO: ROB PATTINSON LIFE

I HAVE USED INFO FROM YER BLOG ON MY BLOG.

GOTTA GIVE U A SHOUT OUT & SEND YA SUM LUV

Rob Pattz will ALWAYS be number 1 in our HEARTS

Top 50 Hottest Young Actors

# 5 - Robert Pattinson: He puts himself into this 'gentle' 'fetal like position' to protect himself from the outside world. But then again, he has the guts to portray a gay artist named Dali and a bland, almost fatalistic guy named Art in a movie named How To Be. Is he Hollywood's next golden boy?

Why a #5 ranking: One of the biggest news in December of 2007 was British actor Robert Pattinson being cast as the lead in the much-awaited film Twilight. Twilight is a young adult / horror / fantasy / romance novel written by author Stephenie Meyer, originally published in hardcover in 2005. The story is about seventeen-year-old Isabella Swan, a girl who moves to Forks, Washington and finds her life in danger when she falls in love with vampire Edward Cullen. We reported earlier that the character of Isabella Swan will be portrayed by Kristen Stewart. Pattinson already has a huge following after the Harry Potter film, but he is more than just a pretty face. Beating out a number of hot and rising teen actors for the Twilight role, he definitely aspires to be a great actor someday.

The young actor recently won a Best Actor award for How To Be at the Strasbourg Film Festival, which was duplicated at the First Glance Film Festival in Hollywood, California

Twilight and its sequel New Moon are not the only feature films for the actor; he also portrayed artist Salvador Dali in Little Ashes and coming up are three more exciting new films, including Unbound Captives and Remember Me.

RPATTZ This Decade's Leo Dicaprio?

Twilight star Robert Pattinson: this decade’s Leonardo DiCaprio

Bright flashes greeted him at every turn. His face was the centerpiece of every magazine, and his name was a-tip every tongue in the free world. In 1997, Leonardo DiCaprio made his big break with Titanic, and the world would not forget his name.

At twenty-three years old, DiCaprio had already earned one Academy Award nomination for his work with Johnny Depp and Juliette Lewis in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? and had stunned his fair share of audiences with his brilliant portrayal of Jim Carroll in The Basketball Diaries. Some were hard-pressed to forget his name after his newcomer addition to the cast of Growing Pains back in 1991. His work in Romeo + Juliet would capture the hearts of many, and his work with Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, and Russell Crowe in The Quick And The Dead allowed DiCaprio to pass muster with film aficionados the world over. Yet, nothing could prepare DiCaprio for the spotlight that would shine on him after his work as Jack Dawson in the unforgettable and mega-blockbuster hit film Titanic. Opposite the beautiful Kate Winslet, and led by the wise hand of James Cameron, DiCaprio’s work was a sure thing for his success.

Ever since, Leonardo DiCaprio has become the stuff of legends. Earning another two Oscar nominations for his parts in Blood Diamond and The Aviator, DiCaprio fast became a favorite of Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese (who he worked with in The Departed, The Aviator, and Gangs of New York). DiCaprio’s mere presence in a film draws in global audiences. With remarkable films such as Catch Me If You Can in his post-Titanic resume, DiCaprio has been no stranger to hard work and success.

Over a decade ago, though, the road looked murky for this young actor. With his incredible (Titanic, if you will) breakthrough came much subversive speculation about DiCaprio’s personal life. Between the constancy of tabloid agenda, the over-exposure of his very face, and the virtual impossibility of privacy in the thick of it all, DiCaprio stood a chance of falling and never pulling himself back up.

Yet, DiCaprio was able to do so, and now, in 2009, he’s never carried a firmer chin.

Twilight star Robert Pattinson’s recent escalation of fame has certainly endured similar trials. Aspersions cast at him from all angles, Pattinson presently suffers the consequences of being thrust into the limelight. He is unable to walk, talk, eat, or, frankly, breathe without attracting the attention of on-lookers of every demographic.

Also twenty-three and also responsible for the portrayal of many admirable roles, Robert Pattinson has a similar history as DiCaprio. Before Twilight, Pattinson starred in Ring of the Nibelungs, The Haunted Airman, The Bad Mother’s Handbook, and The Summer House. Through these depictions, Pattinson certainly developed a loyal (albeit much smaller) fan-base. Yet, when Pattinson won the part of Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire, his name became evermore recognizable. Still manageable, Pattinson’s star-power was definitely on the rise (much like DiCaprio’s was as a result of work on What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? and Romeo + Juliet).

After Harry Potter, Pattinson starred in two further independent films, effectively showcasing his diverse capacity – How To Be and Little Ashes. Though these projects were completed before Twilight’s release, they would not be released for popular viewing until much later (this spring, in fact).

Meanwhile, his involvement with Summit Entertainment was a-brew. Flying into the United States to audition for the near-impossible position of Edward Cullen in Twilight, Pattinson met with Catherine Hardwicke and Kristen Stewart to try out for the part with the expectation that it might not be his. In fact, Twilight series author Stephenie Meyer was noted to say that Pattinson was not precisely what she had in mind when developing the character in her stories. Fans retained a similar reservation, until things progressed.

Now, Pattinson’s portrayal of Edward Cullen is questioned by near to no one. His performance clenched wildly to the fluttering hearts of Twilight fans and society generally without pause.

Much like DiCaprio captivated the hearts and minds of the masses with Jack Dawson, Robert Pattinson has drawn wide audiences and, to put it mildly, fans the world over.

Once his films How To Be and Little Ashes were released, the fan-dom of Pattinson was marked completely evident with their successes in the wider marketplace.

Invited to present at the Academy Awards, being auctioned off at the amfAR event at Cannes, and becoming affiliated with film project after film project, Pattinson’s number has certainly risen.

Already finished with his work on The Twilight Saga: New Moon (and filming his next Summit Entertainment project Remember Me (alongside giants like Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper)), Pattinson will also join sides with Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz in Unbound Captives and bring to life Guy de Maupassant novel Bel Ami as well.

The downside of Hollywood glory, though, has mightily come alongside his popularity, and speculation and dissension has accompanied his last year’s ride almost incessantly, and it doesn’t look to be ceding any time soon.

Yet, Robert Pattinson keeps a steady grin and a proud face. Some fans even state that Pattinson’s most endearing feature is his ability to remain focused, serene, and sincere amidst the constant chaos that surrounds him. Others fear that Pattinson’s bravery and tolerance, however, will fade and he will become disillusioned and alienated with the game in its entirety.

The same fears existed a decade ago with Titanic star Leonardo DiCaprio, who forced himself through the throngs of on-lookers and rarely escaped the media spotlight for more than a day or two at a time. If true, DiCaprio might serve as a proper example of Pattinson’s future in the entertainment business.

With promise, talent, and good looks to boot, Pattinson might find himself, a decade from now, looking over his shoulder at rampant photographs of the next decade’s victim and let out that youthful, knowing grin as he makes his way to his next stellar and critically-acclaimed film, in peace.
